Making a Mosaic

A Mosaic Pouf is a one-of-a-kind, sustainable, FUN piece to add to any room! We make them by taking left over fabric pieces and designing where it all goes. Here are some steps to help you put your colors together to create the piece of your dreams.

  1. Choose a Color Scheme: Start by selecting a color scheme that will guide your fabric choices. You can opt for complementary colors (opposite on the color wheel), analogous colors (adjacent on the color wheel), or monochromatic colors (variations of a single color). Consider the mood or theme you want to convey with your pouf and select your theme accordingly.

2. Gather Fabric Swatches: Collect a variety of fabric swatches in different colors and patterns. Look for fabrics that complement each other and fit within your chosen color scheme. Consider the texture and weight of the fabrics as well, as they can add visual interest to your patchwork design. It is helpful to stick to fabric pieces that are a similar weight.

3. Test Layouts and Combinations: Lay out the fabric swatches and experiment with different combinations to create a cohesive color story. Group fabrics together to see how they interact and whether they create a balanced and visually pleasing composition. Pay attention to the proportion of each color and how they work together as a whole.

4. Consider a Focal Point: If desired, choose a standout fabric or pattern that can serve as a focal point within the patchwork design. This can add visual interest and create a captivating centerpiece for your pouf.

5. Finalize the Design: Once you’re satisfied with the color and fabric combinations, finalize your design. Lay out the fabric swatches in the chosen pattern and take note of their arrangement. This will serve as your guide when sewing the pieces together.

Remember, designing a color-coordinated patchwork pouf is a creative process, and personal preference plays a significant role. Trust your instincts and have fun experimenting with different combinations.
